WASTE MANAGEMENT IN AFRICA

Solid waste management in Ghana and the rest of West Africa has not been accompanied by adequate sanitation facilities and programmes. Notable among the waste management problems is the rapid growth in urbanization and inadequate operational funding from the municipalities’ budgets for the collection and disposable processes.

The disposable methods mostly depend on the obsolete dumping of refuse and plastic bags with the associated environmental and social risks.

Recycling of waste that reduces the waste dumping has not been very effective.

Lots of efforts put in by various bodies to solve the waste management problem in Ghana and West Africa  has not yielded much results.

It is for this reason that Africa2Green has come in to contribute its quota in finding a solution to the Waste management problems.
